THE
JOURNEY
OF
LUCID
BREATH
THE PROCESS
We work with an active, connected breathing technique that allows contact with psychic material that is usually not easily accessible in everyday life — set-aside emotions, memories, bodily tension. Conscious, sustained breathing can facilitate access to an altered state of consciousness, one that supports a process of psychic elaboration. This work helps you move through and integrate certain life experiences, loosen defensive patterns that can leave you feeling stuck, and reconnect with dimensions of yourself that have stayed largely unconscious. Practised regularly, it fosters a more differentiated and stable relationship with yourself.
The process is intuitive: we combine deep, connected breathing with music selections designed to support the process, within an intimate, containing setting. Minute by minute, the experience unfolds, allowing habitual control to loosen and giving access to a non-ordinary state of consciousness.
A number of research studies have looked at the effects of Conscious Connected Breathing on mental well-being; some people describe the experience as a marked altered state of consciousness, comparable in intensity to what is reported in other practices that induce non-ordinary states (learn more here).

In our sessions, we're informed by psychodynamic thinking: we work from the premise that there is no goal to reach, no problem to solve, and no symptom to reduce. This way of accompanying you helps you access a non-ordinary state of consciousness; whatever you come into contact with in that state has value in its own right.
That's why every session is different, and the focus of your experience can vary considerably (bodily, emotional, visual). This is neither a guided meditation nor a step-by-step protocol, but an encounter with a part of your psyche that is usually not easily accessible, which can lead to lasting changes in how you relate to yourself and your environment.
We, Kilian and/or Stella, accompany you through this process, in a role close to that of a containing clinical frame: he makes sure you feel supported and safe at every stage, without directing the content of what emerges.

What are the benefits of Breathwork?
Self-exploration: breathwork can offer an intense way of exploring your inner world, including emotions or memories that are not fully conscious. This can support greater self-knowledge.
Emotional release: participants often report significant emotional release during sessions, which can help process old wounds, sometimes linked to chronic tension or pain.
Stress reduction: deep-breathing techniques can help reduce stress and support a state of release.
Increased creativity: some people find that these altered states stimulate their creativity and problem-solving abilities.
Expanded sense of meaning: for some, the experience goes beyond the strictly rational and opens new perspectives on their personal history and existence.
Psychic integration: breathwork can support the integration of previously dissociated or barely conscious material, helping people feel more coherent with themselves
Community and support: sessions take place in a group, fostering a sense of mutual support. Participants often share their experience and feel seen and welcomed by others.

While we are convinced that every person benefits from a regular breathwork routine (we ourselves also follow our own routine), we want to encourage everybody who has specific needs / issues and wants to work on these to get in touch with us.
We have worked with clients which had (among others) the following issues:
THE HISTORY OF TRANSFORMATIVE BREATHING IN WESTERN CULTURE
After LSD was banned in the late 1960s, Stanislav and Christina Grof, who had championed the therapeutic value of the substance, developed Holotropic Breathwork. The technique was designed to induce states similar to those brought on by psychedelics, without using any substances. Trained in Freudian psychoanalysis, the Grofs believed that the deep self-exploration made possible by these altered states could have lasting structuring effects on the psyche.
We work in the tradition of this therapeutic approach. We use breath as a means of accessing deeper layers of the psyche — this is what sets our work apart from behavioural approaches. Our aim is not to regulate symptoms, but to engage with different dimensions of one's psychic experience, gaining greater freedom and flexibility in how one relates to one's history, sense of identity, future, and relationships.
